For treatment and prevention of Thrush

SilicaHorse Anti-Rotstraal completely heals the frog and ensures a healthy and strong hoof frog. It has been specifically developed for the treatment and prevention of Thrush in horses and ponies.

The radius of the horse or the pony is the rubbery, triangular piece in the center at the back of the bottom of the hoof. Under normal conditions, it is a uniform piece that is solid and looks pretty even after washing.

A healthy frog helps ensure proper blood flow of the hoof, resulting in a better horn structure.

How to use Anti-Rotstraal

Before spraying the SilicaHorse Anti-Rotstraal into the frog, the frog must be thoroughly cleaned. This will make the section of the hoof affected, accessible to SilicaHorse Anti-Rotstraal.

This must be done in principle 1 x a day after which the liquid is allowed to dry up. This must be repeated until the frog is cured.

SilicaHorse Anti-Rotstraal is easy to apply and is therefore user-friendly.

Preventive use

Also SilicaHorse Anti-Rotstraal can be administered preventively. This is recommended if conditions arise that could cause Thrush, such as a humid environment. Also, some horses are more susceptible to getting Thrush.

How do I recognize Thrush?

If the horse has Thrush then that frog is sometimes a small, narrow, irregular piece with pits and craters. The frog grooves are deep and the jet is soft and soft. When the hoof is touched or deeply scratched, the horse reacts violently to the pain. In severe cases the horse is irregular or even very sensitive to hard soil. Thrush has a typical and strong smell.

In other words, the strong piece that means a part of the support surface for your horse can now cause a lot of pain or at least reduce the backing and drastically reduce the operation of the hoof (hoofmechanism).

The origin of Thrush

The frog is affected by anaerobic bacteria. These bacteria live in an oxygen-poor, humid and fairly warm environment. They find them in the frog grooves where manure and urine are stuck and where the horse stands on a moist and warm soil that can not move much. The ammonia resulting from manure and urine destroys the frog structure.

These conditions are common for horses on which the hoofs are never scratched, which stand on damp litter and often don’t leave their stable, which is occasionally cleaned out.
